Welcome To The First Annual TCFBL! What separates this league from others is the simplicity of it, and YOU the manager, have complete control over your team. It’s designed a little different than perhaps what you are used to, but is a great challenge and a lot of fun to participate in, as a beginner or a veteran Fantasy player. It’s a league that doesn’t require all that much fuss and is pure in it’s simplicity. We don’t want to hear “I don’t have time to join a Fantasy League”. (3/5/10) |
How Many Teams Will Be In The League? The TCFBL will include (12) managers, scattered across the Country, participating in a traditional Rotisserie style Fantasy Baseball League, rewarding teams in ten different categories.
|
When Is It? The Draft will be held on Thursday, April 1st, 2010, at 8:00 P.M Eastern time. It should take about two hours. If you do not want to draft yourself, you can always rank your players on the Yahoo baseball site and avoid the process altogether and Yahoo will construct your team based on your rankings.
|
How Much Does The League Cost? The League will cost $169 per team, paying the top four teams. Monies must be deposited to the commissioner by May 28th, either Check, Money Order or Paypal.
|
What Is The Prize Payout? The 1st place team has one of the following options. Option #1: $800 Option #2: A Ty Cobb Autographed Check Option #3: A T206 Ty Cobb, Red Background (SCG 40/3) or PSA 3 Graded card. The 2nd place team gets $600 The 4th place team gets $200

How Are Transactions Done? You have complete control of your team. Pick ups and Drops are done on a first come, first serve basis by the General Manager.
There is a two day waiting period for waiver wire pick ups, and the determination of who gets what is determined at first by a random waiver number, and later based on the date of the last waiver wire transaction. Let me give you an example: The Beaneaters* drop Dodgers pitcher Josh Towers. The Superbas and The Bridegrooms are both interested in the services of Josh 'Control' Towers. The Superbas, determined randomly in the beginning, are assigned the number #3 (out of #12) on the waiver wire and the Bridegrooms are assigned a #12. The Superbas would get them because they are #3 and therefore after that transaction, they would now be #12 in the pecking order and the Bridegrooms would be #11. There is a 2 day grace period from when a player is dropped and when he can be picked up. There is no advantage one way or another as late round waiver numbers move ahead with each transaction made by other managers before them. There were only a handful of waiver wire pickups last year and we think Chris Davis was involved in three of them. You are allowed 35 pick ups and drops for the whole season, which are free. Once you made your 35th pick up or drop, you are no longer allowed to make anymore. If one of your players goes on the DL, you can place him on your roster DL slot (you can place up to two players at one time on the DL) and you are able to pick up a player from the Free Agent pool. When the DL player comes back, you have an option of releasing any player to keep your roster number honest at 23.
*We also would like the team names to reflect an actual baseball team, past or present. No duplicates, and first come, first serve.

Are Trades Allowed? There is a trade deadline of August 15th and the Commissioner has the right to veto any trade. Why? We want this league to be run fairly, and every year there is a trade offer or a trade that makes no sense and gives a large advantage to one team over another.
What we want to avoid is circumstances where trades do not assist one team, while elevating the other team. Trades exist to assist both teams.
If August 14th rolls along and the 2nd place team makes a trade with the 7th place team and appears to be out of it, we will veto the trade. The second place team owns Vladimir Guerrero and trades him to the sixth place team for Matt Kemp. That doesn't benefit the sixth place team. Position for position, with two players that are heading in the opposite direction when it comes to production. Veto.
It should also be noted that the commissioner of the league isn’t an active trader and hasn’t made a trade in four years, as this will avoid doubt on the fairness level.
If there is a trade that is disputed, we can turn to a league vote. I just want to avoid any circumstances that creates the feel of collusion.

How Do I Control My Team? You go to your Yahoo team page every night or every morning and you decide how your lineup will look for the following afternoon or night. If a player pitched the previous night and a pitcher on your bench is pitching that night, make the switch! A player has a day off, while a bench player is playing, start him for the one game and put him back on the bench the following day. You can even create your lineup for the whole week if you want. Yahoo tells you when your pitcher is set to go next, and from what the Yahoo Fantasy site says, the Stat Tracker is free this year and it's pretty neat! Create your team and walk away! But there’s a slight catch. There are limits to the amount of games played by your hitters (that being 175 games per position) and a limit to how many innings your team can pitch-- total (1700 innings). Once those numbers are reached, your team is finished for the entire year at that position, and those are the statistics you get. It encourages quality over quantity, while rewarding crafty and skillful General Managers.

Anything Else? We will keep this section open for updates on the number of General Managers that are confirmed. All of the total prizes will be changed to reflect the prize pool if we have to go with less than 12. At this moment, we have 10 people who have shown some interest so far. Please come back to this portion of the site for an updated head count.
